Workshop on Crownless Bridge Work
Date:
16th June 2008
Venue:
Naim Health Centre
Organizer:
Bahrain Dental Society in cooperation with the Ministry
of Health.
A workshop entitled Evasive Versus
Invasive Fixed Bridge Construction about crownless
Bridge Work was held on Monday 16th June 2008
at Naim Health Centre organized by Bahrain Dental
Society in cooperation with the Ministry of Health.
Dr. Edward Hakeem a consultant
Endodontist & Prosthodontist from Jordan who was
visiting Bahrain has conducted this four hours workshop,
which included demo hands on presentation covering the
new technique of bridge work construction.
This type of treatment can be used to
replace missing teeth without harming the adjacent teeth
to the gap. It is a very simple & conservative procedure
involves the provision of a fixed bridge without
conventional crown preparations using a specially
developed micro hand piece and drill. The dentist
prepares 1.2mm channels in the wall of abutting teeth.
In these channels exact fitting anchors fit adhesively
with dual cure resin cement. The dental laboratory then
fabricates a framework in the same manner as the fixed
bridge. Finally the dentist adhesively fixes the
bridgework on the anchors and against the abutments.
This type of technique has been out
since 5 years and it has proven to be successful
treatment and withstand 3 times the amount of force that
natural teeth can stand.
14 dentists from the private & public
sector have attended the workshop & it was thought to be
interesting with illustration to new simple technique in
dentistry.
Announced by Dr. Ameera Radhi; Chairman
